This large and graceful church was built in 1930 when the previous church was moved across the road to serve as a hall. The church bell is a cherished artifact of P.E.I.’s Acadians. Forged in France in 1723 and rung in the church in St. Peter’s Harbour until buried on the eve of the Acadian deportation in 1758. It was found 113 years later (1870) by a farmer as he ploughed a field near the site of the old St. Peter’s Harbour church. The bell continues in use since given to St. Alexis Church.
