View MoreThis elegant grove of red and white pines highlights one of PEI’s most beautiful settings. A short hike through tall Pines near the outlet of MacLure's Pond which is the largest fresh water body on PEI. This natural area occupies four hectares (10 acres) on the east side of MacLure’s Pond, at the western side of the village of Murray River. Located on Provincial crown land, the stand is one of the best examples of old growth pine forest with some of the trees dating to pre -1870. MacLures Pond offers bird watching opportunities around the spillway and along the edge of the pond adjacent to Eagles View Golf course.
Take your canoe or kayak on the non-tidal waters of MacLure’s Dam (no motor boats allowed). Watch for wildlife at the water’s edge. The fall colours are beautiful here in Murray River, Prince Edward Island.

Directions: At the Western edge of the town of Murray River. Go West on Riverside Drive (from Esso station near bridge) from #4 to trailhead at MacLure's Pond. Can reach the short trail from the Eagles View Golf Course where there is also an interpretive center in the clubhouse with information on the trail and other features of the area.
