Visitors arriving by ferry find the red soil, green grass, fishing shanties, lighthouse and museum of Wood Islands impressive. Access to the Confederation Trail for walking and cycling is at the Train Station beside the Visitor Information Centre. Two nearby Provincial Parks sport beautiful beaches.
